How do I find my mouse’s real DPI?
Move your mouse a measured distance on the DPI analyzer. Choose 1 or 2 inches (or 5 or 10 cm), click to start at a ruler mark, move in a straight line and click again. Repeat three to five times.
Step by step
- Put a ruler on your desk (or use our online ruler on a calibrated phone).
- Open the DPI analyzer and choose a distance. Longer is more accurate.
- Line up the front of the mouse with the start mark and click the panel.
- Move straight to the end mark and click again.
- Repeat three to five times and compare the average with your mouse setting.
Questions and fixes
My results jump around
Turn off pointer acceleration (on Windows untick “Enhance pointer precision”), move steadily, keep the mouse flat and check the distance twice. Chrome and Edge use raw input, which is the most accurate.
It is far from the advertised DPI
Within about 5% is normal. A bigger gap usually means a different DPI profile is active (many gaming mice have a DPI button).
