How do I check my screen for dead or stuck pixels?
Wipe your screen, open the dead pixel test and press Start full-screen test. Click or press the right arrow to move through red, green, blue, white, black and grey, and look closely. Press Esc to finish.
Step by step
- Wipe your screen with a dry microfibre cloth so dust isn’t mistaken for a fault.
- Open the dead pixel test and press Start full-screen test.
- Look over the whole screen slowly, section by section.
- Click, or press → or Space, for the next colour; ← goes back. Esc finishes.
- For a stuck pixel, try the Stuck pixel fixer over it for 10 to 20 minutes.
Questions and fixes
Dead or stuck – what’s the difference?
A dead pixel stays dark on every colour and usually can’t be fixed. A stuck pixel stays one colour (red, green, blue or a mix) and can sometimes be freed with the fixer.
Is the fixer safe?
It flashes bright colours rapidly. Don’t use it if you, or anyone watching, has photosensitive epilepsy or is sensitive to flashing lights.
