How the CPS test works

CPS means clicks per second. Pick a time, then click the panel as fast as you can. The timer starts on your first click, so there's no need to rush to be ready. When time runs out, your total clicks are divided by the number of seconds to give your CPS, and your best score for that time limit is saved on this device.

What's a good CPS?

Most people score somewhere around 6 to 8 clicks per second with ordinary clicking. Above 10 is quick. Gamers who use special techniques can go much higher:

Take care with these: tensing your hand hard for long periods can cause strain, and drag clicking wears out mouse switches. Take breaks, and stop if your hand or wrist aches.

Tips for a higher score

If you get a suspiciously high score with one finger, your mouse may be double-clicking by itself. The mouse test checks for that fault.

Clicking safely

Fast clicking games are fun, but repeating the same movement for long stretches can strain the small muscles and tendons in your hand and forearm. Warm up with a few short tests, take regular breaks, and stretch your fingers and wrist between rounds. If you feel pain, tingling or numbness, stop and rest. A comfortable chair height, a mouse that fits your hand and keeping your wrist straight rather than bent up all make a difference over longer sessions.

Questions and answers

What is a good clicks per second score?

Around 6–8 CPS is typical for normal clicking. 10 or more is fast, and techniques like jitter or butterfly clicking can push scores into the teens.

Does the timer start straight away?

No. It starts on your first click, so you can get ready first.

Is my best score saved?

Yes, on this device only, using your browser's storage. Each time limit has its own best score.

Can I use a touchscreen?

Yes, tapping works too, but most people score lower than with a mouse.

Why is my score unusually high?

If you're clicking normally and getting very high scores, your mouse switch may be double-clicking. Check it with the mouse test.
